Zucchero, Pavarotti and Bocelli ... mindblowing.

While I was writing the post below, this song came on.  It's there in the midst of my Zucchero collection, and I was stunned by it.

I went searching, found the youtube and realised, if I had been photographing that event ... I would have cried as I worked.  It's beautiful, in that deep way ... that touches a soul.

I do hope the neighbours didn't mind.  It's 9.32am but the volume just had to go up ... way up.

Fabrizio De Andre - Genovese musician and storyteller

I have spent the evening in fine company ... watching the dvd documentary of Genovese singer, Fabrizio de Andre.

It has subtitles.
I love it.

Well yes, this isn’t the first time I have watched Effedia - Sulla Mia Cattiva Strada which translates as On My Own Bad Road.

He was storyteller, a singer, a good man.  I like hearing him talk ... sing, tell his stories.
German director, Wim Wenders, raves about him.  I am in good company.

Tony Madigan ... a remarkable man.

I met Tony at Kathleen and Manuel’s wedding in Madrid.

He was the pipe-smoking guy talking with the fabulous Peter after the wedding ceremony.  My camera wanted to capture him.

It turns out, he is Kathleen’s rather superb voice teacher.  He plays guitar like an angel ... I suspect there is more but I’ll find out and get back to you.

Anyway, meet Tony Madigan ...

Tom Dice, Me and My Guitar

So maybe I should get a nine to five
But I don’t want to let it go, there’s so much more to life

Tom Dice, extract from Me and My Guitar

There was me, the New Zealander with dual citizenship feeling the Belgian part of my identity, watching Tom Dice, my favourite new singer, competing in Eurovision 2010.

I ended up watching the show by accident ... only to find myself on the edge of my seat, as Tom slid up and down the placings from 1st to 6th.

But I love this song ... the ultimate artist’s song surely.
