I moved to Manapouri, down in the south-west corner of New Zealand, in October 2019. An old friend, recently widowed, invited me to share her home while she grieved for her partner of 41 years.
I picked up a summer contract, working as a Department of Conservation Ranger, and I loved my job - advising, foreign and domestic tourists, on how to explore the majestic environment that is Fiordland National Park (a park as big as Belgium is small). Especially enjoying it whenever someone arrived from some foreign place I had lived, or wandered.
I consider myself a photographer of people, and events however, Fiordland has challenged me to try to capture Nature, as that’s pretty much all that we have down here. These are my attempts.
